Only a couple of weeks into the new timetable and the 0630 ex Cork has an extra stop in Limerick Junction, and an extra 15 minutes added to its journey time. The excuse is temporary speed restrictions.

How much padding do they need? Forget pay cuts in CIE: link their salaries to journey times and punctuality!

Be careful what you wish for.

A happy railway is a safe railway. Journey time (driven by speed), punctuality and safety are competing factors.

But yes, consistency would be nice.
