View Full Version : 8 coach train sets used during the day
I notice the other day at 8 car 29000 going to Maynooth leaving Pearse with no more than 5 people on the train.
I counted 1 person in the last 4 carriages.
Can these trains not be split into 4 sets and would help save some money.

Numerous trains return with over a thousand on board. It's no fair to judge loadings at Pearse given Tara and Connolly are equally busy.
Irish Rail do have a serious problem with efficency. Many off peak services would be fine with just a 2 coach.

Probably that train would have been full heading the other way. Also bear in mind maynooth and drogheda passengers use connolly alot more than they would use tara street or pearse (other than at evening peak time) also bear in mind passengers boarding at stations such as coolmine and clonsilla for students going to maynooth. You cant judge a book by its cover. The same happens with drogheda trains. I was told by a manager sometime before the bridge collapse that a drogheda train that leaves connolly at around twelve is an eight coach and often leaves connolly with less than twenty even ten passengers . One of the reasons why they were going to halve trains during the day.
With regards to night trains i disagree mark because maynooth trains are only hourly they fill up four coaches okay not many standing but most if not all seats taken. The last train to maynooth have become a successs even connolly staff are saying it !

I said many, not all
I said many, not all
Sorry should have seen the keyword MANY.
still though i would have said leave the commuter services as four coach because they are more or less only once an hour. If they were more frequent i would have said two coach
