As of Monday November 2nd, all Dublin bound trains calling at Hazelhatch, Adamstown, Clondalkin and Cherry Orchard will call at a different platform to current
This will be the most northerly platform, e.g. the platform nearest the ticket office in Hazelhatch, nearest the station entrance in Adamstown

any idea why?
also do you know if the new timetable will include the communter route (as far as hazelhatch) or if we will need to wait until they launch this service?

One of the new tracks was brought into service this morning, while the previous dublin bound track was disconnected to allow engineering works as it will become an outbound track in the future
The 4 track project will not be ready for the timetable change in November, the project completion date was always given as first half of 2010. That said as soon as the commuter tracks come into service all commuter and freight services will be diverted onto them

so will we not see the 4 track commuter service in operation until the 2010 timetable update?
was hoping that commuter line would open some time this century

Commuter trains will be running on the 4 track before next Summer, anything which runs non stop between Hazelhatch and Heuston will be on the fast, anything stopping will be on the slow tracks
When that is in place we would expect extra Heuston - Hazelhatch services to appear, before a major change in timetabling probably Summer 2010 to account for KRP open, the WRC open, the Cork East signalling, Clongriffen station and so on

thanks Mark
do you know if there will be any extra trains on the new timetable going to hazelhatch between 5pm and 8?
currently there is 5.15 ,6.05,6.10 and 6.35 then 8.05

Another change
All local services eg Kildare/Newbridge - Heuston will now use the centre pair of tracks between Hazelhatch and Cherry Orchard. So you need the middle platform for those services. This may be subject to variation for outbound trains due to planned engineering works. All long distance services use the outer tracks
Note as 4 tracks are in use, the order of trains is now dynamic so you can leave Hazelhatch on the fast track and overtake a train which left Hazelhatch 10 minutes before on the slow track. This will massively improve punctuality as Kildare line trains will no longer be held at Kildare to allow Cork trains to pass, equally the Cork train can now overtake any stopping train

This doesn't appear to be the case so far - the 0952 Newbridge to Heuston was held back until the Cork to Heuston train had passed this morning. Unless a commuter train has at least a 10 minute headstart on an intercity train, then it makes sense to allow the intercity through first.

I thought the "old" 2 tracks were being refurbished before full 4-tracking?

Will be between now and Summer 2010 there will be work, its only 15 miles of track about 3-4 months work. Chances are they will close Sat-Sun only on one of the outbound tracks, get about 1km done in each weekend
The need the 4 track in place now to minimise impact of delays elsewhere

Not only Newbrdige/Kildare also Portlaoise/Carlow services that call at any of the stations between Hazelhatch and Cherry Orchard. The platform displays for the outer tracks say 'Platform not in use'.
This morning the 0845 Kildare-Heuston was held until 0852 at Kildare to allow the late running 0630 ex Cork - so no change there! yesterday it was also held for a few minutes.
