Hi folks, iv not been on this forum in ages and have not travelled on a train in 2009 yet..

Can I ask though, are the new intercity trains in operations on several roots and do any of them have dining cars??

Did the 9 car new inter city trains ever arrive???

Can I ask though, are the new intercity trains in operations on several roots and do any of them have dining cars??All or nearly all are in service, except the two sets that were damaged in transit. There are few intercity services* that don't use them. Only the 6-car trains have a dining car, most others just have a trolley service. The dining cars are most likely to be used in peak services to main destinations.

Did the 9 car new inter city trains ever arrive???These were ordered quite a bit later, so there may be some delay before they arrive.

* Commuter, Cork-Dublin-Belfast and Rosslare-Limerick-Ballybrophy excluded. Connolly-Rosslare is still a mix and match.

Connolly-Rosslare is still a mix and match.

I'm sorry but that is not true. No 22k intercity has gone as far as Rosslare yet. Only as far as Gorey:(

There are no 9-car trains (but 6+3 is a possibility). The trains yet to be delivered are the last order of 55 units (17 three-car as far as I know), plus the 2 three-car demaged in transit and returned to Korea for repair.

9 car operation as in 6+3 has been tested several times, but is of extremely limited use due platform lengths

Any idea of when IE plan to allow online bookings (and with it hopefully cheaper fares) on Wexford/Rosslare services?

Booking is probably first quarter 2010

I got a 10 euro day return Rosslare Dublin in November so cheap fares are most certainly available

Thats designated as commuter service and is a 29k normally

Only Dublin Rosslare services are 22k operated

Then Irish Rail should change the service to "Railcar" as it is currently "InterCity" on the website.
